Archive for January 2011

Another week has started! (and my vacations have ended orz)

Just yesterday the rockish girls of SCANDAL released one of their new promotional videos. This one, entitled "Cute!", features a collaboration song between the group and Sanrio (Hello Kitty's creator). The character used in the video is Cinnamoroll, and he is SO DAMN CUTE. I want one...

"Cute!"s Promotional Video from Sanrio's official YouTube channel

In South Korea, Kim Bo Kyung released her debut album after being part of Superstar K. Although she didn't win, I was really surprised with her vocals. Such a powerful song. Check it out and support her through this promising career!

BEAST (B2ST)

A Cube Entertainment group, BEAST is a six-member boy band. They made their debut in October 2009 with the first mini-album "Beast is The B2ST". Achieving great success right from the start, the mini was soon sold out and the group earned a "Rookie of the Month" award.

"Bad Girl"s Music Video - 1st mini-album's title track

On January 2010, BEAST revealed their comeback with "Shock of The New Era", the second mini-album. The title track "Shock" received many good reviews for the powerful vocals and surprising choreography. Gathering more and more fans, the boy group finally won their first music show award with "Shock" and started to be part of multiple live concerts, performing with senior artists without letting down.

"Shock of The New Era" mini-album's cover

After months of great expectations, B2ST released on September their third mini-album, entitled "Mastermind". Already from the pre-orders it was obvious that it would be another success. With "Soom (Breath)", the title track, the group got more awards. It's also nice to notice that labelmates miss A released "Breathe" almost at the same time, making a fun match between the songs' titles.

"Soom (Breath)"s Music Video - unique high-quality music

Fans were surprised when just one month after "Mastermind" the boy group opened pre-orders for the 4th mini-album, "Lights Go On Again". It soon devastated charts with the title track "Beautiful" getting the first spot on many rankings. New awards were earned and BEAST announced their first solo concert, "Welcome to Beast Airline".

"Lights Go On Again" promotional photo

With the concert's huge success, an encore edition is already expected. On December 2010, the group also released a collection of self-composed duets by the members, called "My Story".

While I just discovered this group in their "Mastermind" era, they impressed me enough to make me look for all their releases and start following the new productions. They make awesome live performances and that's a great thing in this auto-tuned industry. It's a shame that I can't attend their concerts, but I'll be sure to keep up to date with BEAST, and so should you!

I DA NAAAAAAAAAAAA~ (refer to "Soom (Breath)" if you want to get the joke lol)

Wow, it's been a long time since the last artist. For this week's Japanese artist, I chose an amazing hidden gem: Kokusyoku Sumire (pronounced as Kokushoku Sumire).

 Yuka and Sachi

Formed in 2004 in Tokyo, Kokusyoku Sumire is a group composed by Sachi (violin and chorus) and Yuka (vocals, accordion and piano). Presenting themselves with an extreme gothic lolita image,  praised by the most important style magazines in Japan and Europe, this duo also has a remarkable musical uniqueness.

With a mix of classical music, chansons, opera, folksongs and gothic appeal, these girls make sure to leave an unforgettable impression on you. Their first album "Zenmai Shojohakoningyo", released in their debut year, expresses an awesome creepy atmosphere that really got my attention, especially with the superb vocals from Yuka!

"Circus no Uma"s Promotional Video - opera gothness!

It was only in 2006 that Kokusyoku produced their first album "Anderumeruhen Kakyokusyu". This released was followed by three albums in 2007, one being a repackage of Anderumeruhen with two bonus tracks.

 "Anderumeruhen Kakyokusyu"s jacket

The group's first DVD was announced in 2008. After a while without new releases, focusing on performances all over Europe, Kokusyoku finally released a new album in 2009 called "Gothlolic". This album featured some songs in french (chansons) and was officially released in France.

In 2010, the group made a promotional video for "Gekko Renka", an unreleased track featured on their DVD concert. A very interesting album, "ALICE IN THE UNDERGROUND", was also produced using the once again popular Alice in the Wonderland theme.

"Gekko Renka"s Promotional Video

There's definitely nothing similar to Kokusyoku Sumire. The group's identity is so strong that even famous Tim Burton is a fan of the girls, always visiting their cafe in Tokyo. Gothness is everywhere when talking about these girls and I hope they won't be so underrated in the future. It's a hidden gem that more people should know about!

    Opera-goth-crazyness FTW~ ĂČ.Ăł

2010 was a year overflowing with new groups. So many that some just disappeared, leaving people wondering about what they were doing. On the other hand, groups like miss A or C.N Blue achieved great success, beating even senior artists on weekly music shows.

 C.N Blue - a 2010 artist that doesn't even seem to be a rookie

Unfortunately, these new stars found a big problem after successfully entering the idol world. Many hardcore fans from senior artists created some kind of resistance against the rookies. Claiming that they will never be what the older groups are and constantly making comparisons only to say bad things about the newcomers are the most common attacks.

Even if I try to understand this behavior, I really just can't stand the ridiculous position that some people take. You know, those guys/girls worked really hard to even debut. After that, they still have to shine in their live performances and hope to be acknowledged by the audience. When you are beginning it's not easy to stand out, but they persevere and believe in their dreams of becoming famous or simply of doing what they like (singing, dancing...)

Infinite - a rookie boy group that impressed with the perfect live synchronization

So I ask these particular "senior fans": Why the annoying rejection? If you see the rookies as some kind of dangerous competition, I beg to differ. First of all, they are a healthy competition, because it will eventually make the veterans work harder not to lose their superior posts. Also, the new groups aren't there just thinking "Oh, I'll kick these old people's butts and show who's the best". They have a respectful relationship and want to watch their seniors as an inspiration for a better work.

2PM and miss A - a beautiful representation of senior-rookie friendship

Aside from those career-related points, there's the musical interest. Newcomers, while not always, try to bring freshness to the industry, with possible new trends and addictive tunes. f(x)'s "Nu ABO" is a great example of that as it proposed a "new blood" to the Korean pop music, which I doubt that would be presented by SNSD's or Super Junior's songs. In fact, I see many people saying on forums that they are tired of hearing the same beats on K-Pop, so let's give a chance for these new groups to change this!

f(x) - bringing new blood to the idol industry

I personally think that new groups = new music. And that's what matters, because good music is never enough. Oh, it's true that crappy stuff also appears in the middle of the rookie mess, but there's nothing to worry about it as time itself will send these disgusting songs to the music limbo to rot. Newcomers deserve as much attention as any other group, if not more, due to their extreme hard work. Remember, your "legends" were also a rookie one day and could only grow with the support of true fans.

After the "Good Girl Bad Girl" success, miss A released "Breathe". Even if this new song didn't end up getting as many awards as the debut one, it certainly got stuck in our minds. This extremelly catchy tune made many idols learn the choreography and show their results on variety shows!

Just LOL. (2PM and SHINee's Key are the best xD)

HAPPY 25TH (26TH IN KOREA) BIRTHDAY JAEJOONG!!!!!!!!!

Not only I'm really inspired by his awesome singing, he's also the person I most look up to. I SO want to be like him when I grow up, mostly because...

HE'S PERFECT IN SIMPLY EVERYTHING HE DOESSSSSSSSSS :OOOO

I MEAN, EVEN HIS CAT JIJI IS ADORABLY PEEERRRRFECTTT!

YOU KNOW WHAT, IT SHOULD BE ILEGAL TO BE SO OBVIOUSLY SUPERIOR THAN WE ARE. IT'S LIKE HE'S NOT EVEN DAMN HUMAAAAAAAAN.

ANYWAY, HAPPY BIIRRRTHDAY JOONGIEEE XDDDD WHY SO UNFAIR

JUST STOP DRINKING SO MUCH AND BE HAPPY FOREVER AND EVERRRRRR<3

For this week's recommendation, I chose an album that for me is a pure masterpiece. After years of great music from ALI PROJECT, this particular production of 2009 made a breakthrough.

 "Poison"s jacket

With experimental styles like the jazzy "Gokushoku Ichidai Onna" (track 05) or the outer-space "Seikimatsu Genesis" (track 08), ALI PROJECT proved once more that their music is constantly changing while keeping the unique sounds that makes you realize it's theirs as soon as you hear the song.

Making use of the "Poison" theme, Mikiya gave the arrangements a dazzling feeling, with lots of the usual violin and different percussion instruments. Arika, with her brilliant vocals, put her own style in the songs with a bit of a mystical feel to it.

"Odokumi LADY" - track 03

It's really hard for me (for anyone, I think) to like all songs from an album of any artist, considering there are usually 10+ songs. However, in this case, I simply love all tracks. Composed of nine normal tracks and one instrumental song, Poison is sure to please the listener.

"Poisoner" - track 01 - From Poison Tour 09 DVD

  My Favorite Tracks:
 Odokumi LADY

Hello! Another week has begun and it's once again full of releases.

JYJ's "Their Rooms ~ Our Story"

Korean group JYJ, composed of DBSK's members Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu, released their music essay "Their Rooms ~ Our Story". After a disappointing experince with Kanye West on "The Beginning" album, this essay is fully composed, directed and arranged by JYJ, showing fans their true feelings.

"Fallen Leaves" track - composed by Junsu

In Japan, YUI released her new single. Entitled "Your Heaven/It's My Life", the single is composed of two A-side tracks, each one for a different commercial feature. Both tracks have a promotinal video and, as usual, an acoustic version of the last single can be found on the single.

"Your Heaven"s Promotional Video

These new tracks are awesome! JYJ's ballads are really beautiful and YUI's voice once again binds me to the songs, I just love her <3

By the way, I'm sorry for not posting the Artists of the week. I was really busy this weekend with my family. I'll make an epic post next weekend, I promise!

Last year, we saw hordes of Korean girl groups heading to Japan. Under the influences of the Hallyu Wave, the South Korean cultural expansion, these groups achieved great success most of the times. Some of them, like KARA or SNSD (Shoujo Jidai), even entered the competition against Japan's recent most famous group, AKB48. How were they able to do that in such small time?

First of all, as previously stated, the effects of the spreading interest for Korean culture. The massive Korean idol industry and famous TV dramas were certainly decisive in the attraction of worldwide fans, especially in Japan, which is geographically very close and therefore easily influenced by the Wave.

KARA in Japan - instant success with the famous "Butt Move" from the debut song "Mister"

Add an extreme care for beauty, training and live performances and you have a killer formula against unprepared artists in any country. Remember that Korean idols are usually trained for years inside their agency before even debuting in order to make them fully prepared for the music industry.

On the other hand, you have the common Japanese idol girl groups, which are basically focused on variety shows and that eventually get better by their career experience. When comparing the beginning of these groups to their Korean counterparts, it's scaring obvious to know which one is going to be praised by fans and critics, especially when AKB48 has "millions" of members and you really can't expect every single one of them to be good at singing, dancing, acting, modeling...

AKB48 - Damn, do they expect us to know them all?! @-@

"So Pedro, are you saying that Japan will be dominated by Korean groups now?" Definitely not. Japan's music industry will never fall to that, simply because they aren't idol-based like South Korea these days. And you don't need to go far to see that. Without even considering J-Rock, there's such a diversity in Japanese music that it's hard to know it all. Classical-like singers make huge success, Enka masters are still on the top and the idols, such as Hello!Project groups or Johnny's Arashi, take the number 1 spot simply for appealing to the masses of young Japanese fan girls/boys.

With that in mind, I just think that the idol section of J-Pop is threatened. For 2010 we had mainly Korean girl groups entering the market, but this year it's going to be different. SHINee announced that they are going to debut in Japan in March. Now tell me, is there anyone with a minimal critical mind thinking that people like NYC or KAT-TUN are talent-wise better than the SHINee members? If you do, I will personally send you to a doctor, because you need new ears and eyes. I know, these Japanese boy bands won't decline fast, but if they don't do anything about it, they will be eventually overshadowed by the awesome synchronization, vocals and training of Hallyu artists.

SHINee's first concert in Japan - and they haven't even debuted there yet.

Before anyone goes to the comments section saying that I'm Korean-biased and that I hate Japanese artists, let me say something. You see, I knew J-Pop years before K-pop. I love Arashi, Morning Musume and older AKB48 songs. I even have Arashi's Crazy Moon single! My point here is that their talents is somewhat underdeveloped simply for the fact that they aren't trained like SHINee or KARA members. Therefore, why would Japanese people keep praising something when it's right there in their faces that these "new" groups are currently better?

Also, I reckon that this is the perfect experience for Japan to learn something good. It will be great competition to their industry, and hopefully that will force them to change this disappointing image that idols are getting there with the AKB48 girls appealing only to sexual insinuations in their music videos instead of impressing listeners for the musical quality that could exist. And yes, Korean idols also appeal to sexualized themes sometimes, but at least they prove their talents at the same time with great vocals.

But of course, haters gonna hate, and that why some stubborn Japanese people keep messing around with Korean artists' images in order to try to prevent them from successfully entering the market. Rumors about idols using their good looks to get good contracts spreaded quickly through the internet.

A manga page accusing Korean girl groups of using their bodies to be successful

Instead of creating a conflict between the music industries, people should support their country's artists on their expansion. Cultural exchange is good for both sides as it improves the qualities of a society, increasing their complexity. In times of economic crisis, the unison of these two huge music cultures is not only a way to get money, but also to open the minds of the population to a more globalized thinking.

It's only a matter of time before Japanese groups also head to South Korea and this hate nowadays will only make things more difficult, since Koreans will also like to have their "revenge" and will eventually criticize the J-Pop essence. Listening to good music is never enough, so why try to repel it only because it's not of your nationality? As always, respect is one of the most important keys to a healthy cultural process and now is the right moment to improve that quality.

AKB48 with KARA - No need to bash, your idols are friends :)

I was thinking about posting something funny until I watched the audition videos from some SHINee members. EVERYONE must watch this, so I decided to dedicate this post to their videos.

Let's start with Key's audition. I think he was 14 at that time. And before you feel underachieved, he recently said that he doesn't like this video because it makes him look like an octopus...Well, I still feel the most underachieved person in the world LOL

Holy S***!

Shocked already? Then prepare yourself to watch the next one from Taemin. He was 12...12!! Watch as he just waits for people to dance a little before he beats the crap out of them. This guy is seriously a genius.

I feel bad for the other contestants...

I always loved SHINee, but now my respect for them went to whole new level. I can clearly understand why they're SME's "dance group".

    Just wow. ĂČ.Ăł

While there are hundreds of beautiful idol pictures everywhere, some of them end up shining more. This week, men all over the world were stunned with SNSD's Jessica new photoshoot for "Singles" magazine. Check out this preview released by the magazine:

In a trip to Bali, Jessica transformed herself into the most beautiful Bali Princess I've ever seen!

:Q_________________________________ *drools* runs to buy the magazine

Starting this new corner, I picked up one of my favorite albums from 2010, Tohoshinki's Premium Classic Collection.

 Album's jacket

This album is basically composed of Tohoshinki's best songs selected by fans, but with something really special: the chosen songs were rearranged and played by a symphonic orchestra. The new versions are so beautiful, so touching; it almost makes me cry, especially if you think about how much the boys are suffering right now :(

Despite the sad feelings, it's a must-have for any fan of DBSK/Tohoshinki and even for classical music fans. Every song is arranged in a unique way and delivers a different interpretation of the original song without taking out their identity.

    Hello ^^

This week is full of great news for J-pop and K-pop lovers! Among so many new releases, we have the announcement of Kalafina's new single "Magia", used as ending theme for the anime "Puella Magi Madoka Magica". It sound really awesome and dark, check out the CM:

"Magia"s CM

As for the Korean side, SNSD's teaser for the new song/music video "Visual Dreams", a collaboration with Intel, was uploaded on S.M. Entertainment's official YT channel.

"Visual Dreams"s teaser

The full song has already been released on multiple websites and the complete music video will soon be revealed. These girls make everything they touch turn into gold! Once again it's Soshi fever everywhere~

January seems to be a really great month for music ^^

Hey! I have important news for you today. Since school is almost starting again here in Brazil (Feb 1), I realized that I won't have time/patience to write as constantly as I'm doing lately, especially considering the size of my posts lol. Therefore, this blog will undergo some serious changes. Many new sections are going to be created, emphasizing small but fun/interesting posts. Don't worry, I'll still post one Japanese and one Korean artist per week ("J/K-Artists of the week" ^^). Actually I think it's going to be much better this way!

My current idea for the blog's new format:
  • Monday: "Teh Newz" - some recent news on the music scene =)
  • Tuesday: "Take Notice" - one album/single/EP that I think you should listen to!
  • Wednesday: "Spazz with me" - gorgeous pics of our favorite idols <3
  • Thursday: "Idol Randomness" - funny videos showing the dorky side of the idols lol
  • Friday: "Uncovering" - I'll try really hard to keep this awesome corner ^^
  • Saturday: "J-Artist of the week"
  • Sunday: "K-Artist of the week"
So that's it for now~ Any comments?(Please? :3). This week (starting tomorrow) will be like a "test week". Let's see if this works @-@

Once again it's time to be mean. But I'm going to say something before that. If you like f(x)'s Amber, you have two choices: read and defend your bias in the comments or stay away from this post, unless you just want to get angry at me. Remember that this is MY view on all this mess and you don't have to agree with me. Respect before mindless hating.

Amber - La Cha Ta's look

Since the group's debut with the song "La Cha Ta" in 2009, hordes of fangirls have been attracted by the rapper Amber. Well, that was expected considering the tomboy-ish look. Unfortunately, that brought a lot of unnecessary things with it.

First of all, the excessive love. Amber was immediately considered the member with greater popularity, winning all polls on forums (before Victoria's WGM, of course) and with a bunch of spazzing fangirls saying how gorgeous she was and that they would even like to "marry her" due to her boyish looks. Oh really?

Don't forget about the overrated abilities. Her rapping capacities are subpar. KARA's Nicole or even minor boy band rappers can kick her ass in a rap battle. Oh, and yes, I will compare her with boy band rappers since she is obviously famous because of her looks, not due to her "musical talents". Also, I recently observed in f(x)'s music video after I read about it in a forum, and Amber's dancing is the worst in the group, making everything clumsily. Yeah take that, Sulli haters. But don't worry dear reader, as it seems that S.M. Entertainment noticed that too!

Amber on NU ABO's photoshooting

During NU ABO's promotions, Amber hurt her ankle and had to stop performing in order to rest. After a while, she even ended up going to the USA to "rest" with her family and recover in a better way. Really? So why did she take photos with famous choreographers there? And I don't mean any famous choreographer, but YG's Shaun Evaristo, who trains South Korean artists such as Big Bang. And surprise, YG's groups are usually focused in rapping, so maybe there's more than choreography involved.

You see where I want to get with this little explanation? Amber took SIX MONTHS to "recover" from an ankle injury and show up at SHINee's concert in December, plus 3 months until f(x) expected comeback in March.
My theory is that she was/is training, or you could say "Finally learning how to dance, rap, sing whatever". There's nothing more hyped in this world than Amber's return after her disappearance. SM knows that and they have to make this comeback the bomb or there's little chance that f(x) is going to survive the girl group war. What would be better for success than a skillful Amber?
 Amber-less f(x).
The rapper's absence was also interesting for the rest of the group, as it gave them an opportunity to shine. Best example? Koala. Having their own TV show, without Amber, where they travel together, have fun and most importantly, entertain the viewers with unique personalities and talents was great. Let's not forget about Victoria's "We Got Married" show. She's definitely the most famous member now, but would she be able to do that if Amber was also doing stuff around? We will never know, although I personally think it would be harder to gather such attention in other conditions.

With the girls' comeback getting closer and closer, it's only a matter of time before we know what SM planned all this time. It's going to be VERY interesting, despite the fact that I sense an Amber overload in the new album. Still, everyone is waiting for answers on this case and I just wanted to share my thoughts. Yes, Amber is my least favorite member but I respect her as part of my nÂș1 girl group.
Do you believe she was just recovering all this time? Can you guess what's going to happen for their comeback? Please tell me on the comment section below ^^

    Their comeback has beguuuuun! *-*

LOL it's hard to identify them with sunglasses @-@

MBLAQ is a five-member boy band created by South Korean famous solo singer Rain. Due to that fact, their debut was really hyped and, when the first single "Just BLAQ" was released in October 2009, the group topped sales charts. MBLAQ also debuted in Japan, but only in December of that year.

"Oh Yeah"s Music Video - the first release

In May 2010, the boy group made their first comeback with the release of the second single "Y". This new song was also received with much success as MBLAQ earned an award on a weekly music show.

After many months without new info since "Y" promotions ended and with rumors that the next comeback had been delayed, it was announced in December 2010 that the first full-length album would be released in January 2011.

"Y"s promo photo

On January 3, 2011, MBLAQ released the music video for one of their new title tracks, "Cry". The date of the album's release was confirmed as January 10. The other title track, "Stay", also had a music video, which would be released with the album. Both songs achieved huge success among fans and other listeners, making preorders skyrocket. The first live performance happened today and it was E-P-I-C, with "Intro", "Cry" and "Stay"!

"Cry"s Music Video

"Stay"s Music Video

You probably noticed that I'm really excited about them! Their new songs are the bomb and the live was "O.O" with water and loud fanchants everywhere. I hope they can get many awards with this, even if DBSK is also promoting now... This is SO much better than "Y", you can really see that they worked hard on it! A+s are buying this album like crazy, maybe they really have a chance!

    Go MBLAQ!!! *-*

Hello :) Today seems like a great day to talk about a band with awesome visuals and incredible musical skills, right? And there's no one better in those aspects than visual-kei band Versailles!

Jasmine You, Teru, Kamijo, Yuki, HIzaki

The concept of the band was created in 2006 by Kamijo and Hizaki (vocals/guitar). After deciding on making a group focused on the relation of music and image, they started looking for more members that would fit the idea.

In 2007, the foundation of Versailles was announced with Teru (guitar), Jasmine You (bass) and Yuki (drums) as the other official members of the band. In June of that year, Versailles released their first single, "The Revenant Choir". This single perfectly expressed the sound that the founders had in mind for the group. With good reviews, Versailles produced their first EP "Lyrical Sympathy" in October and even released it in Europe.

"The Revenant Choir"s Promotional Video

In the following year, the band toured in Europe and debuted in the USA. After the successful lives, Versailles released their first full-length album, "Noble". Promotions for the album were made in the USA. In December, the band produced a maxi-single "PRINCE & PRINCESS", which led to their first national oneman tour. At the tour final, Kamijo announced that they would go major with Warner Music Japan in June 2009.

"PRINCE & PRINCESS" jacket.

The first major single, "Ascendead Master", was released as expected in June 2009. Versailles' popularity was skyrocketing. Taking advantage of that, Kamijo announced that a new full album was already being produced. Unfortunately, Jasmine You had to stop activities due to poor physical conditions. In August it was announced that the bassist had passed away.

"Ascendead Master"s Promotional Video - the last video with Jasmine You :(

After the sad news, Versailles decided to postpone the album to January 2010. Hizaki had to record the missing bass lines for the new songs. With their strength recovered and with Jasmine You as an "eternal member", Versailles finally released "Jubilee". The album even sold out in some online stores as international fans were strongly supporting the band.

"Jubilee"s jacket.

In order to promote the new album and thank overseas fans, Versailles held a world tour in 2010 (I saw them live here in Brazil! *----*). During the concerts, fans noticed that the band had a support bassist, Masashi. At the tour final in Japan, Kamijo announced that Masashi was now an official member. To celebrate the moment, Versailles also performed a new song, "DESTINY -The Lovers-", which was released as a single in October.

"DESTINY - The Lovers-"s Promotional Video - With Masashi!

For 2011, there's a single scheduled for March called "Philia". The title track will be used as the theme of Versailles' comedy mini-drama "Onegai Kanaete Versailles!". I can't wait to watch it!

Despite going major and the hard times that the band had in 2009, they kept the same sound in the new songs and that's really, really good. Teru and Hizaki are one of the most awesome guitarists out there, Kamijo's vocals are amazing, Yuki simply doesn't know what is to make a mistake at live concerts and Masashi is certainly following Jasmine's steps to be a great bassist! Versailles is just the perfect visual-kei band for me and I hope you liked it too.

Let's spread the roses of Versailles to the world~ ^^

Oh no, another girl group! Well, it's not really my fault. I wanted to write about MBLAQ, but their music video for "Stay" isn't out yet so I decided to postpone their post. Now, to today's artist: miss A!

Jia, Fei, Min and Suzy

Created by JYP Entertainment, miss A is a four-member girl group. The girls officially debuted in July 2010, with the music video for the first song being released on June 30.

"Bad Girl Good Girl", the debut single, was received with great popularity and got multiple awards, which impressed people since it was a rookie group winning against senior ones. Live promotions happened through July and didn't disappoint.

"Bad Girl Good Girl"s music video from miss A's official YT channel

After the incredibly successful debut, it didn't take long until their comeback was announced. On September 16 the first pictures showing the new concept were revealed. On September 26 the new music video was posted on the YouTube channel. Fans could once again cheer for miss A as they came back with "Breathe" on October 2010 for live promotions.

"Breathe"s music video

The new concept shocked many viewers as it had completely transformed the girls' images. But "Breathe" was too catchy to resist and miss A grabbed more awards with it, showing the power of this rookie girl group.

While some say that miss A is overrated, I believe that their achievements were all deserved. Good live performances, catchy songs and, of course, beautiful members make one awesome combination! There's still much to learn as they have just started, but I'm sure that their success will continue and only get bigger! Good luck miss A!

When talking about japanese music, you can't forget about Tomoko Kawase, singer of the band "the brilliant green". This time I'll talk about one of her solo projects, "tommy heavenly6". Don't worry, the time to write about "tommy february6" and "the brilliant green" will surely come! ^^

Tommy heavenly6 and her guitar

It all started in 2003. After years of successful releases with "the brilliant green", Tomoko Kawase was experimenting synth sounds with her cute-self, "tommy february6". But she felt something was missing. In that same year, in one of february's live concerts, Tomoko took off her glasses during one song and revealed her new solo project, "tommy heavenly6". The new image was created from february6's repressed emotions, which ended up in this rock-ish, rebel girl.

The following three years had few releases from heavenly6 as Tomoko was still defining her style. Three singles and one eponymous album gathering those singles were produced.

After the successful start of the new project, the singer decided to dedicate 2006 and 2007 for tommy heavenly6. Four singles, including "Pray", used as the opening for the "Gintama" anime, "Lollipop Candy♥BAD♥girl", the famous Halloween song, and "I♥Xmas", were released just in 2006. The following year had an album production.

Unfortunately, Tomoko stopped the release madness and spent almost a whole year without producing new songs. It was only in December 2008 that tommy heavenly6 made her comeback, proving that she was still in perfect form. The single "Papermoon", used as the second opening for "Soul Eater", was an instant hit. It was the song that fans were dreaming to listen to.

In 2009, the singer released best-albums for both solo projects, containing all the singles released for each one. The "Gothic Melting Ice Cream's Darkness Nightmare" album pleased fans, especially because it featured the 2008 limited single "Unlimited Sky" and its video. Another album, "I Kill My Heart" was also released, composed most of unused songs from past productions.

With the best-albums released, Tomoko decided sing again with "the brilliant green". 2010 was then filled with productions for the band. To show that the solo projects hadn't been forgotten, the singer made a new song for heavenly6 called "I'm Your Devil", but didn't release it. The song was received with much praise after it was distributed online and is expected to be another hit.

This week, Tommy announced on her twitter that the new song is getting a CD single release!

This girl knows how to rock and her style is so unique that it's awesome to hear she's coming back. While some people call her the "Japanese Avril Lavigne", don't forget that Tomoko started singing before, so maybe the influence was the other way around! But anyway, it's a cool image so whatever. My favorite song is definitely "Papermoon" and if I had to recommend an album, it would obviously be the best-album, since it gathers all her best songs (all singles, actually)!

    Isn't she a cute rocker? ^^
